His journey into the world of watercolor and art is part of his DNA. He strives first and foremost to capture the mood and ambiance of his subjects. His work always includes elements of mystery, story and romance. His artistic objectives are to always capture the abstract beauty of light and the honest essence of his subjects. Leo lives and works in the Bethany Beach, southern Delaware.
My recent paintings have evolved from Geometric Abstraction to what I refer to as Symbolic Visual Expression. The word “symbol” is defined as, “something that suggests or represents something else. Symbols often take the form of words, visual images or gestures that are used to convey ideas and beliefs.”
It is the choice of the viewer to establish or interpret the content of the composition as an intuitive impression or association, reflecting on the visual symbols in play. Nothing more, nothing less.
Jack has received numerous awards for his artwork and is represented in several corporate, museum and private collections including the Bank of Boston, Pennsylvania Bank & Trust, Milton Bradley Company, Ernst & Young, Occidental Chemical, Springfield Newspapers, Burchfield Penney Art Center, Schenectady Museum and the Southern Vermont Art Center.
“In an ever changing world, society is consistently traveling forward in the fast lane. Our day to day existence is often defined by immediate results and responses. In order to balance our existence, it is vital to create equilibrium in our lives. Slowing down at times, and exiting the fast lane stabilizes balance in life. Taking the time to soak in precious moments and just breathe is soulful medicine. There is no better place to breathe than in the still moments that nature provides.” – David J. Simpson
